How much difference between the process mapping methods in use?
Among the various process mapping methods in use, there is actually little difference. Most obvious differences are dependant on the tasks involved among different types of businesses and their requirements.
A production operation will require different criteria than a not for profit organizations for instance. But they each have the central goals in common. Each type of business endeavor must have some form of a profit and loss statement that needs to be addressed. Even a non profit related business must show a smooth flowing operation that is free of waste and has proper management enforced.
The mapping procedures will require use of the various symbols, reflecting each area of business operation and the actions each is required to follow.
