Women vs Business

Women in buisiness is more and more a common thing but something that I have noticed is that there aren’t that many women who are high up within a company.  What do I mean by this? Thinking back on my career, so many women that I have worked with have opted to choose family over career.  Was that the correct path to choose?  I have often heard my superiors tell me that maternity leave causes hardships on our company and this is why the women are rarely promoted.  I feel bad that women get overlooked when promotion comes around, but then again, why would you sacrifice family for work anyways?  Isn’t the ultimate goal in life to be happy?
