Teeth Brushing - A Vital Part of Dog Health Care
One of the best things you can do to keep your canine companion healthy is to brush his teeth. It’s such a simple thing, yet such an important part of dog health care. You can start when your dog is a puppy. For best results, try to do it every day. Make it part of your dog’s daily routine, brushing his teeth after breakfast or after dinner. If you haven’t brushed your dog’s teeth before, it may take some time for him to get used to the process.
You can use a regular toothbrush if you like. Some people prefer to use a dog toothbrush that fits over one finger. This kind of brush may be easier for you to get into your pet’s mouth. Whichever works best for you is what you should use. I’ve even heard of owners using a battery-powered toothbrush!
When brushing your dog’s teeth, always use a toothpaste made especially for dogs, which you can buy at a pet supply store. Toothpaste for dogs is flavored and most dogs like the taste. Never use human-type toothpaste, because it can be toxic to your dog. Also, never put human mouthwash into your dog’s mouth because it has ingredients that can be harmful to animals.
