The place of the Jewish dating service in a pluralistic society

Some interesting statistics are out there about Jewish singles that will be of interest to Jewish dating service and online communities that are helping young Jews be Jewish in their society. A recent survey by David Katznelson who has organized a number of dusk-to-dawn non-traditional event for the traditional Leyl Shavuot in San Francisco, showed that half of those interviewed said about half of their friends were Jewish (42 percent of the singles and 52 percent of the couples). Further, half of the Jewish singles said they talk to non Jewish friends about Jewish issues. That is not talking about Israel — a third of them said they did that with non-Jewish friends. A resounding 98 percent said they were proud to be Jewish. This is good news for online dating services. It means that as people focus on living in a non Jewish society, they would probably want to reach out and support their Jewish identity with Jewish dating.
