Certified to Become a Phlebotomist

For a long time I always thought that the people who take my blood knew what all other nurses and doctors knew. I thought they went through school just like anyone else who worked in a hospital. I just found out the other day that there is a phlebotomy certification exam that must be taken after taking a few classes, and that is all you have to do. It makes sense to me now that you shouldn’t have to go through years and years of school to take blood for a living, but I always thought that was the case until now.
