Possible Quick Fixes to the Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Problem

Some xbox 360 owners who have experienced the xbox 360 3 red lights problem have found quick fixes that some times fix their xboxes temporarily. Here are a couple things you can try if you’re having the three red lights problem. First, turn your Xbox off and let it cool down.  Depending on how hot it has gotten,  it may take up to an hour or so to cool down sufficiently. Now power the Xbox back up. If you’re lucky, you’ll see all green lights where the red lights used to be.  So go ahead and start playing again. But be warned, chances are, once you have experienced the 3 red lights problem once.  You’re more than likely to see it again.

The second thing you can try is to improve the circulation in the Xbox unit.  If you have your Xbox GPU (general processing unit) in a  closed console cabinet, try taking it out and setting it on a hard surface while playing.  This will allow more air to circulate inside the Xbox and therefore more heat to dissipate. This particular fix has been successful for many Xbox owners.  Where it has been unsuccessful is when the Xbox has gotten overheated too many times and damage has been done to the motherboard through cracking of soldering joints.
